We Packed 25,000!
Hey!
Last night, I joined volunteers from three local churches and the local children's home to participate in a Stop Hunger Now event hosted by my church. Each volunteer chose a duty and received the privilege of getting to rock a hair net.
I was a "sealer" so my job was to seal the bags once they had been filled and weighed.
"Stop Hunger Now created its meal packaging program, in 2005. The program perfected the assembly process that combines rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix including 21 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packets. Each meal costs only 25 cents. The food stores easily, has a shelf-life of five years and transports quickly."
A $25 donation feeds 100 children. Our goal was to pack and seal 25,000 meals and we met that goal in record time. We packed and sealed those meals in about an hour and a half.
I can't think of a better way to have spent my evening than by providing someone with a meal they desperately need.

you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,"

What a great cause. How wonderful to be able to help so many people in such a short period of time.
